Banks don’t get to avoid change.

Banks came in for an eloquent dressing down at the Blockchain Africa conference in Johannesburg in early March. Leading the charge was keynote speaker Andreas Antonopoulos, who poured scorn on the efforts of some financial services companies experimenting with distributed ledger technologies to replace the functions of clearing houses.

These consortiums would typically assemble transactions and sign them, ‘rather than compete through market forces in a secure model like bitcoin’.
