COST SAVINGS DON’T HAVE TO STOP ONCE YOU’RE IN THE CLOUD

Covid-19 has had a massive impact on everything from who we are allowed to visit, to how close we can stand to one another, to whether we are able to do business and, if so, how we are able to conduct it. In particular, it has impacted the value chain across end-customers, enterprise clients and suppliers.

Nikhil Bowry, Sales Leader for Cloud and AI at Huawei, points out that the impact on business has been particularly severe. Lockdown has meant that, for example, vehicle insurers saw a significant drop in premiums, as people weren’t paying for insurance while they were not allowed to drive. The same happened with fashion retailers, who ended up with stock that couldn’t enter ports, nor be legally sold.

“The net result of this impact is that there has been a much greater emphasis placed on costs. To this end, there is a massive demand for more choice – end-customers are now more willing to purchase substitute solutions that are more cost-effective, while enterprise customers want greater choice in regard to their technology providers,” Bowry says.
