Security, data and governance in the ransomware age

How do security threats prompt change in data management?

14 January 2022

Ransomware attacks are not slowing down. According to Nazeer Ahmed, solution consultant, brand manager and sales specialist at First Distribution, global surveys suggest that nearly 51% of companies have faced a ransomware attack. Of those, 71% were successful. As is evident by now, rapid digitisation in the past two years contributed to the situation.

“With the pandemic promoting remote workforces, I think it’s relaxed security. Cybercriminals are ambitious – you even get something called ransomware-as-a-service, and it’s evolving. Many attacks are shifting away from endpoints and starting to target datacentres. It’s becoming more critical.”
