Many companies are struggling to leverage social networking for their businesses. Dayle Wheeler says he knows why: they’re not meant for business. Wheeler, founder of ModernBusiness, is a veteran of many different industries and has done information security risk management for events as prestigious as the Olympics and the World Summit. He’s also worked in the oil industry.

“The oil industry is a funny industry: anything and everything goes when it comes to getting oil. So if you needed something or needed to do something, you just did it. There is no getting approval or going up a ladder. I used to walk into places with my credit card and say I need this thing now and buy it.”
