Education could be the solution to some of South Africa’s most pressing problems. A solid training in IT in particular would give young people the skills they need to get a job, and let companies fill vacancies so they can flourish and boost the economy.

It must be exasperating for Tebogo Makgatho, CEO of NetCampus, to see this blindingly obvious fact being so thoroughly ignored. The government does little but procrastinate, universities adapt too slowly to offer relevant tuition, and companies that rely on skilled people spend too little on training.
