Will a South African VTOL passenger jet ever take off?

South Africa is set to get its first vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) passenger jet. But nine years since development of the Pegasus Vertical Business Jet began, it’s still not clear when the aircraft will finally take to the skies.

Currently, there are no VTOLs in commercial service anywhere in the world and Johannesburg- based Pegasus Universal Aerospace claims that its aircraft will be the ‘first airplane to provide true business jet performance coupled with helicopter convenience’.
