What do DevOps and Kubernetes have in common?

14 July 2021

At first glance, you’re probably not entirely sure what DevOps and Kubernetes have in common. Actually, that first glance is very likely to fell you in a tsunami of terminology. Containerisation, pods, nodes, namespaces, ingress and secrets. If you dared take a second glance, you’d be easily fooled into believing that Kubernetes is actually just another 007 movie, complete with strange names and a cat. For Michael Cade, a global technologist at Veeam, Kubernetes is less a confusing and complicated technology and more a toolkit that helps the business build the bridge between the old and new.

“My job is to find a way of uplifting everyone into this Kubernetes, cloud-native world, and make it as easy as possible for the business and individuals to benefit,” he adds. “ Like any new technology, at first it appears daunting and complicated, demanding a lot of learning. However, it’s more about getting things done faster – whether this is releasing faster, adapting the business faster, or mitigating risk faster.”
