Digital currencies are finding new ways of transforming Africa.

On the face of it, there is little to say about the Northern Cape town of Orania, aside from the fact that it is an Afrikaner-majority town, founded in 1990, of 1 500 people located along the Orange River.

That is, until it comes to money. Orania already has its own chamber of commerce, its own bank and even its own currency – the Ora. Now the town is planning on going one step further, by launching its own digital currency, the ‘e-Ora’.
