South Africa needs to find ways of encouraging women to enter the ICT sector as employees as well as entrepreneurs, says Dr Sebiletso Mokone-Matabane, CEO of state-owned Sentech and winner of this year's ICT Leader award.

“The impact of information and communication technology [ICT] on women is likely to become greater. The men have already benefited from what ICT can provide and greater effort needs to be made to encourage women to enter the sector, to support and skill them once they are participants, and to grow them to the extent that they, too, can become owners of ICT businesses,” she says.
