How do you manage the burden of legacy technology while retooling your business for the future? And how do you tell your staff, who have been keeping the lights on all these years, that they now need to change and embrace a digital way of working?

While these are hard questions, it’s also anyone’s guess which business is going to be next in line for a major overhaul, specifically through the introduction or a combination of technologies. But there are some clues, and the supply chain business does indeed appear to be ripe for disruption. These are some of the things that Tshifhiwa Ramuthaga, CIO of Barloworld Logistics, has been thinking about recently. She’s been in the job for a little over a year, in which the broader business was involved in restructuring, or, to put it another way, a ‘transformation’.
