OPTIMISING THE TRANSITION TO CLOUD

SPONSORED: The pandemic has accelerated digital adoption, and while this is a positive for most organisations, some have rushed into the process without a clear vision. Cutting corners, and not doing every step correctly, can be a waste of time, effort, and money. Itayi Mandonga, CTO at Software AG, and Jonathan Heywood, SVP API, Integration and Microservices at Software AG, discuss the biggest stumbling blocks in the transition to cloud.

Statistics published in Harvard Business Review show that in 2018, $1.3 trillion was spent by companies on digital transformation. Of this, $900 billion was wasted, mainly because companies did not understand what they wanted from the transformation; 70% of these initiatives did not reach their goals.

“You need to have an understanding of why you are embarking on the journey, and how you are expecting to benefit,” Mandonga says. “If you don’t have a clear reason and a set of goals, your journey will not be successful. Ensure your business strategy is aligned with your cloud adoption strategy.”
