Mteto's big bet

Altron is putting its Karabina subsidiary and a strong focus on Microsoft at the centre of its plan to significantly grow revenues. Can it work?

29 December 2019

Mteto Nyati’s ‘bold’ plan to grow Altron’s profits from its new Microsoft licensing partnership to R100 million in three years makes for great headlines. Big numbers always do. The plan is for Altron Karabina (previously iS Partners), which it acquired in 2018, to be the ‘go-to partner’ for ‘everything Microsoft’.

It sounds almost too simple: use its newly acquired Microsoft Licensing Solutions Provider (LSP) status and replicate what Altron’s Bytes UK subsidiary has achieved (it’s Microsoft’s largest partner in that country). Oh, and there’s that void left by the termination by Microsoft of its licensing agreement with EOH in March, which will make it even easier.
