Reports of unhappy staff and a failure to create margin-bolstering services and solutions have dogged Didata for several years. On 3 November, a Labour Court case looks set to shed light on how true these claims are.

Six ex-employees of Dimension Data remain on course to meet the company in the Labour Court this month to settle a complaint that their dismissal in mid-2001 was procedurally and substantively unfair.

They are the remaining members of a group that originally numbered 23, of which ten were applicants in the initial filing notices. Leon Marais, one of the remaining half-dozen, says that those who have chosen not to proceed have done so for financial reasons, as well as the emotional strain of pursuing a case that has dragged on from a failed CCMA process more than two years ago.
