The privacy and trust manager

Data. Privacy. Security. Trust. Compliance. Never has there been more demand for this role than there is today.

Privacy and trust manager. Only a few short years ago, this role would likely have been a part of another role, a few boxes to tick on a ‘to do list’ that focused on other parts of the business and its security. Today, however, privacy and trust have become commodities traded by cybercriminals and carefully protected by organisations and individuals. They are as closely guarded as treasure by dragons, and those dragons come in the form of privacy and trust managers. They’re the people who cover all aspects of privacy, from data to communications, and embed trust throughout the organisation.

“It’s a broad role that tackles privacy for data protection, data privacy and trust,” says John Giles, managing attorney at Michalsons. “The word trust is in the title because it also describes the outcome of what they’re trying to achieve. This element of trust is becoming increasingly important, especially in light of data breaches and their impact on reputation and risk.”
