Digital home branded

Intel last month anounced the brand name for what it terms ‘the digital home` at its IDF in San Fransisco.

03 October 2005

Dubbed Viiv, as in “survive”, the brand name is – in a nutshell – Intel`s initiative to drive forward the technologies for content delivery, storage and processing of digital media in the lounge.

Firm details were a bit sketchy, but what we do know is that there will be certain qualifying factors, similar to the Centrino campaign, for a PC to be branded with a Viiv logo.

For starters, any Viiv box will have to boast a dual-core processor whether it takes the form of the company`s soon-to-be-released Yonah core – which together with the Napa platform – will be the successor to Centrino`s Sonoma or a Pentium D processor with dual cores.
