HP continues to lose weight

More than half of the job cuts earmarked for EMEA will be in Europe.

The Gartner Group came under criticism from some sectors last month after it released a study on the SA telecommunications sector. General consensus was that Gartner`s outlook is downbeat because the organisation ranked SA at level four on the liberalisation scale – meaning the country is only beginning to open up its market.

More than 6 000 workers across Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA) are in the process of receiving their ‘we regret to inform you that your position has become redundant` letters as hardware giant, HP continues downsizing its 151 000 strong headcount across the globe.

A statement released by HP says that the company recently submitted specific information about EMEA Workforce Management activities to the European Works Council (EWC).
