Hacking with the experts

A South African security company demonstrated to a shocked audience at the ITWeb Security Summit 2006 how easy it is for a technically savvy attacker to break into your systems.

03 April 2006

While the infamous convicted hacker, Kevin Mitnick, drew the crowds with his demonstrations of how easy it is to fool someone into disclosing confidential information needed to break into computer networks, a South African company named SensePost demonstrated some far more technical means of compromising security systems.

Since its inception in 2000, SensePost has built a series of vulnerability checking tools, and won global acclaim for its exploits and technical savvy. It regularly presents at hacker and security conferences such as Black Hat and DefCon, and has amassed 100 clients all over the world. A large number of these are in the financial services industry, where information security is not negotiable.
