How to own the world

Writer and futurist Andreas Ekström wants to see a world where we share in the wealth of knowledge and power. Is social media preventing this from happening?

19 December 2019

If there’s one thing that Andreas Ekström believes in, it’s digital equality. He describes himself firstly as a journalist; he writes for Sydsvenskan, a daily paper in Malmö, Sweden, but he’s also on the speaking circuit, and is taking a look at the implications for humanity of our increasingly digital world. Many of these involve the social networks and search engines, which he believes are changing society on a planet-wide scale.

Addressing the Gartner 2019 conference in Cape Town, he frames the issues he thinks will dominate the digital debate in the coming decade as ‘seven ways to own the world’.
