When I was a kid, my family would gather around the TV to watch a favourite quiz show at a certain time each week.

There would be a flurry of activity first to serve a TV dinner, and taking a toilet break meant missing the action, because pause and rewind hadn’t been invented. Now people stream films and TV series from massive online catalogues of content, view them on their smartphones and laptops, or pirate the films they want from Bit- Torrenting sites. And far from being a family activity, everybody is likely to be watching different programmes in different rooms.
