In an effort to become the ‘smartest’, ‘happiest’, and most connected city on Earth, Dubai’s government is in the process of rolling out systems built on emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain.

On a recent press trip to the glitzy Middle Eastern city, I was able to witness how these would play out for residents in their everyday lives, which left me feeling both in awe and uneasy.
