As South African companies look to open source technologies and thin client architectures to deliver greater value from the desktop, Wyse Technology is about to introduce a new generation device that combines the two and may well drive Linux desktops further into the mainstream.

Eager to take advantage of the growing Linux desktop market, Wyse Technologies has invested considerable research and development in beating competitors to market the first thin client, based on the latest 2.6 Linux kernel.
Coming out of beta testing, the Wyse Winterm 5150SE thin client and Wyse Linux V6 operating system, running on an AMD Geode processor, is scheduled to hit the South African market in March 2005.
