A recent project aiming at breaking music down into its core elements has enabled a fascinating application that introduces you to new music by knowing what you`ll like.

Finding new music is not exactly challenging; turn on the radio, browse your local CD store or spend some time online and you`ll be bombarded with thousands of new artists to listen to. The tricky bit is finding music you`ll actually like, which usually means sifting through piles of less-than-desirable ‘muzak` that the mass media is so talented at throwing your way. A new approach to gaining fresh aural delights has just been launched though; it`s called Pandora and its aim is to change the way you listen to new music. But to understand Pandora, you must first be familiar with the Music Genome Project.
