Looking back

SA IT shares generally experienced a good 2005 and expectations for 2006 remain cautiously optimistic.

01 February 2006

Looking back we can see that 2005 has again been another strong recovery year for mid and small cap IT stocks. Whereas we said goodbye to some of the real bleeders (notably CS Holdings and Glotec), those that remain listed have, by and large, shown strong operating results and resultant share price increases as the graph below shows.

SHINING STARS

Looking at the market, we can see the strongest performers on the one hand were some of the smaller and more riskier stocks, namely Faritec and Prism, while on the other hand, Business Connexion, the largest stock in our coverage sector, also showed a strong return – not least of which is owing to speculations around further offerings for the comany. Latest continued rumours in the market appear to be supporting the price at current levels.
