Digital transformation is the ‘new normal’, say CIOs at a recent Brainstorm roundtable, and it’s non-negotiable.

“It’s not a nice to have. The industry has to change. Things like cloud, mobile and social media make it easy for startups to actually get into the space and do exactly the same stuff we’re doing, and probably much better,” says Absa CIO Thato Matolong, “Therefore big organisations that have been around for 20 years, now trying to transform into this world … it’s quite tough”.
