It’s not a single-sex battle

If South African women could design a solution to attract more women into the IT industry and propel them into executive roles, we could export it around the world.

No matter which country you live in – South Africa, Brazil, the US or practically any other – women in IT are under-represented. In SA, we struggle with additional hurdles like racism and inherent Zuma-backed patriarchy, but the fight for an equal footing is universal.

That was a small comfort to attendees of ITWeb’s annual Women In Business roundtable, as it confirms that slow progress up the ladder has nothing to do with talent and a lot to do with ingrained attitudes.
