Forensics is not just about time of death but also about time of file deletion.

One of the side-effects of the proliferation of technology is that it’s much easier to track what we’ve all been up to. And that’s where Cape-based startup Advanced Digital Forensics (ADF) comes in. If there’s some form of electronic evidence of fraud, infidelity or criminal activity, their job is to find it and present it in a legally watertight manner. ADF grew out of a small consulting venture by a few alumni students and staff from the postgraduate course in computer forensics at the University of Cape Town. All of its associates have Honour’s degrees in Computer Forensics and IT industry experience. Co-founders Roshan Harneker, Adrie Stander and Samantha Rule met at UCT.

“We decided we had complementary skills to start offering a service. We’ve been working through word of mouth and building up capacity as we go along,” says Rule.
