The South African startup ecosystem is thriving. Angel investors, VC funds, seed funds – there’s plenty of capital to go around thanks to a buoyant outlook and increased entrepreneurial spirit. According to the ‘2018 Private Equity Industry Survey’ undertaken by the Southern Africa Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SAVCA), the private equity industry had a 10-year internal rate of return of 11.6% compared with the 10.7% of the JSE, with a significant rise in investment activity. There are more funds earmarked for South African entrepreneurs than ever before. The time for the startup to flourish is now, but only if it has the mettle and the moxie required to make an idea into a long-term, high-growth reality. Like these South African startups...
