African artificial intelligence is alive and well, with Google’s stamp of approval marking the speedier uptake of a growing industry.

In April, the tech giant opened its new AI lab in Accra, Ghana, where it will be working on building AI-powered solutions to African problems. Employing local engineers and researchers, it’s a major step forward for the industry on the continent.
