Young civil servants get 'hacking'

Working on how IT and tech-focused policies can get African governments delivering better services in the digital age.

As endless stories emerge about corrupt shenanigans within our government, we forget to look at those put-upon, but honest civil servants who are literally trying to keep the lights on.

It’s a miracle that anybody clean and well-meaning actually wants to work for the questionable governments of several African countries. Thankfully, they do, and they need all the support they can get. That’s why a group of 30 young civil servants who are bright, innovative and ambitious-in-a-good-way met recently for a ‘hackathon’ in Johannesburg to explore how technology can make their governments more efficient and effective.
