 Drones, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and blockchain aren’t solutions that one would typically associate with the agricultural industry. Until now.

Speaking at the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association’s annual meeting in Washington DC in August, the president of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, said farming as we know it will change. Farmers of the future will be sitting on the couch using an app linked to a drone to monitor their crop outputs and employing driverless tractors to bring in their harvests.
