Passing the baton

There’s a changing of the guard at listed tech group Jasco.

15 August 2018

After a seven-year stint at Jasco, Pete da Silva moves on from CEO to become a non-executive director for the group. The company’s COO, Mark van Vuuren, takes over in July. Da Silva had previously been the CEO of A1 Grand Prix, a rival racing format to Formula One. Before that, he had headed up Siemens South Africa.

When Da Silva took charge, he had to put the glamourous world of motor racing behind him because his in-tray was pretty full. The group was dealing with an economic downswing and also had to adapt to a rapidly changing technological environment. Furthermore, it was in the process of integrating the recently acquired Spescom into its operations.
