Digital skills programmes for Africa

In an attempt to make sure their tools become ubiquitous with the online experience, Google has trained over one million young Africans in digital skills in the past year, and plans to increase efforts this year.

According to a 2017 GSMA Mobile Economy report released at Mobile World Congress this year, 28% of the continent’s total population used mobile internet in 2016, and that number is expected to rise to 39% in 2020. Google wants to make sure it is top of mind when budding entrepreneurs reach for their smartphones.
