Brendan Dysel is head of facilities at hosting provider Teraco, and his day normally starts with him at his desk in the service centre on the ground floor of the company’s Isando building in Johannesburg. Here, the staff monitors the company’s three centres in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg on a large dashboard in the corner of the room. But their job is also closely linked to sales and services.

“We get in service orders for clients,” explains Dysel, “and we’ll prep the cabinets according to the client’s specs. Then, if client X wants to connect up to provider Y, we’ll do that as well.”
