Of threesomes and four-play

It`s time our telecoms companies stopped spouting marketing porn. Just shut up with the buzzwords and start offering the basic, affordable services a developing country needs.

01 September 2006

Our papers are full of it. Banks claim that their fees, costs, levies and charges are all perfectly reasonable. Fuel companies compare their wares to soap, because they`re not legally allowed to compete on price. Fast food companies flog their greasy gunk as crispy, healthy treats.

One expects a certain amount of overstatement in advertising and public relations and, to be fair to fast food companies, at least they do sell cheap food that people seem to want. But the more regulated a market is, the more egregious the rubbish they spout in their marketing. Is it any wonder, then, that telecoms companies are slithering up the rankings for marketing filth these days?
