With origins tracing as far back as 1896, Ster- Kinekor is a household name and synonymous with films and cinemas in South Africa. But, something that doesn’t seem to be as well known is that the company was unbundled from the Primedia group in December 2018 as it was deemed a non-core asset. This follows the unbundling of Ster-Kinekor Entertainment, Ster-Kinekor Distribution and Ster-Kinekor Games in May last year.

While outwardly much might seem unchanged in this regard for movie-goers, behind the scenes, Ster-Kinekor is undergoing a major shift.
