Green energy isn't just about cost

Industry associations argue their pocket books.

The government’s Integrated Resources Plan for 2016, which serves as a roadmap for South Africa’s energy future, has come under criticism from green energy industry associations for, they say, artificially limiting how much renewable energy can be added to the grid in future.

The South African Renewable Energy Council, the South African Wind Energy Association and the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association claim that nuclear and coal get an unfair advantage, as they’re being included at significantly higher tariff prices than renewable energy can deliver.
