The information security engineer

These are the people who stand bravely on the company front line and protect it from incoming threats.

There’s an analogy here. It compares the role of information security engineer with that of any character in the videogame Call of Duty. These are the individuals who strap on their virtual armour and run directly towards the front line. They may wield firewalls, patches and threat detection instead of SMGs and sniper rifles, but they need to work as collaboratively and communicate as effectively as any team in the popular online game. The information security engineer is the person who brings a plethora of security skills to the business alongside solid personal and organisational skills to wage war against the cyber threat.

“This person helps to safeguard the organisation’s computer networks and systems, implementing security measures that monitor and protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration, malicious software and cyber attacks,” says Craig Pillay, architect: information risk and cyber security at Atvance-Intellect. “They should be able to handle any and all cyber attacks in an efficient and effective manner with as little impact to the business as possible.”
