Covid-19 has resulted in offices emptying in epicentres of the disease. What does this mean for business continuity?

As countries shut borders and ban flights in the face of Covid-19, organisations in every country are reappraising their preparedness. This, clearly, is not business as usual. According to a Gartner analyst, it’s going to take nine months to a year, on the optimistic side, before normal life is restored. But it could also last as long as two years, says Rashmi Choudhary, principal analyst, digital workplace, for the research firm.

By mid-March, South Africa appears to have largely been spared the effects of the pandemic, but many multinational firms had by then either sent staff home, or instituted a rotation policy.
