Dimension Data's new dawn

A new ownership model, but with the same old name, is Dimension Data about to step out from the silent shadows of NTT?

12 February 2020

For many people, Dimension Data was the epitome of an enterprise-level systems integrator. Often seen as the 'go-to' ICT player, Dimension Data became an international success story that spread from SA across the world. By having a global presence, this helped build centres of excellence that were leveraged by the local subsidiary.

Founded in 1983, the company evolved strongly in the 1990s and 2000s from a networking company to a provider of cloud, datacentre, connectivity and cyber security solutions. However, things seem to have been a bit quieter for the green giant in the past few years following its R24-billion acquisition in 2010 by Japan's Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT).
